The Champion: Agbannawag Nat’l High School wins 6th Bodong Festival’s secondary drum and lyre contest

Tabuk City, Kalinga—Besting four other participating schools in Kalinga, the Agbannawag National High School emerged as the champion of the 2025 secondary-level drum and lyre competition. 

 

Held at the Kalinga Sports Complex in Bulanao, Tabuk City this Thursday, February 13, the secondary drum and lyre contest is among the activities lined up in the ongoing 30th Kalinga Founding Anniversary and 6th Bodong Festival. From nine contestants in 2024, five schools participated in the contest this year.

 

Agbannawag National High School’s representatives this year showed their impeccable performance, coordinated actions, and enchanting musical composition, which captivated both the judges and audience, winning the championship with a score of 94.76 percent.

 

The said school also received P100,000 prize money from the Provincial Government of Kalinga as the grand winner. 

 

Other winners 

 

Clinching the first runner-up was Saint Theresita's High School (STS) of Tabuk with a 92.64 percent score, earning P80,000 in a cash prize. 

 

Meantime, the defending champion, STS- Salegseg, Balbalan, secured the second runner-up with a score of 92.38 percent. The school received P65,000 in cash prize. 

 

Balbalan Mayor Almar Malannag accompanied the team during the contest, helping them arrange their props and musical instruments.

 

Securing the third runner-up, meanwhile, was Saint Tonis College Incorporated with a score of 91.01 percent, receiving P45,000.

 

Last in the ranking, or fourth runner-up, was STS-Lubuagan with a 91.01 percent score, bringing home P40,000. 

 

Aside from the said cash prizes, each of the participating schools received P10,000 from Governor James Edduba, who was present during the announcement of the winners and awarding ceremony.
