Three teenagers injured in Tabuk City motorcycle accident

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Three 17-year-olds on board a motorcycle were injured following a vehicular accident on Tuesday, November 5, in Bado Dangwa.

The teenagers were said to have come from Bantay and were heading towards Calanan around 5:50 p.m. when the driver miscalculated the sharp curve at the damsite in Bado Dangwa.

The miscalculation sent the motorcycle towards a pile of sand at the side of the highway and skidded 10 meters before colliding against a pile of tires used as barrier at the side of the road, PNP Kalinga Spokesperson, PCapt. Ruff Manganip narrated to GURU Press Cordillera.

Manganip further said that the tires prevented the motorcycle from going straight to the Chico River.

Rescue teams from the Bureau of Fire Protection and the Tabuk City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office ferried the three minors to the Kalinga Provincial Hospital. The driver of the motorcycle was unconscious while his back riders sustained abrasions.

It could be recalled that just last week, October 28, three minors were also involved in a road accident in Bulanao, Tabuk City. Two of them were declared dead at the hospital.

With this, PCapt. Manganip is again appealing to parents to look after their kids and to ensure they won’t drive unless they are old enough to get their driving license. He likewise reiterated the importance of wearing helmets when riding a motorcycle.
