Tabuk City, Kalinga - Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as of Appas, Tabuk City emphasized the purpose of government funds allocated to local communities during his speech in the barangay's assembly on Friday, November 8.

"Ti kuwarta ti gobyerno ket haan nga para ti politicians, para ti komyunidad", the barangay Captain stated, while appealing to his fellow officials to remember that public funds are for the people to help bring about change  in the community.

"Ti pondo koma ket para kadagiti umili, para ti pagsaya-atan ti umili" he added, emphasizing that government funds are meant to be a tool in building a better community, creating opportunities, and addressing the most pressing needs of the barangay.

Peace and Order as the foundation for progress

Dao-as also mentioned the importance of sustaining peace and order in achieving progress. To him, no community can ever grow or develop without safety and stability.

"Nu awan ti peace and order, no project will succeed, no road will be built, and no service can reach the people… Awan ti progreso" he stated.

For Dao-as, the maintenance of peace and order is not only by lawmen but also by 'proper relations among local officials, community leaders, and residents to bring in harmonious and productive life'.

Transparency and accountability in governance

Dao-as further talked about transparency and accountability in barangay fund management, saying, "Masapul a siguraduen tayo nga umiso ti pannakausar dagiti pondo, ken tunggal sentimo ket nakuenta.” he relayed.

“Responsibilidad tayo a siguraduen a dagiti pondo ket makagunggona kadagiti umili, saan a mangpabaknang iti asinoman nga addaan iti personal nga interes.” he added.

His appeal for openness also comes as a reminder that good governance is actually a matter of trust, and it is indeed the responsibility of elected leaders to protect the resources of the people and to ensure that these are used effectively and efficiently.

A call to unity and collective responsibility

Dao-as ended his statement by challenging his fellow officials and the residents to unite and help bring success to the barangay. " Agtitinulong tayo tapno ti barangay tayo ket agprogreso pay." he concluded.
