TIEZA floral float wins 2023 Panagbenga grand float competition

Baguio City, Philippines – As announced by the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. earlier today, the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA) won P500,000 cash prize as the Champion for big float category of the 2023 Panagbenga grand float competition.

The 40-meter-long TIEZA float is the Department of Tourism's infrastructure arm which featured tourist facilities across Luzon, Vizayas, and Mindanao, ranging from hotels and resorts to specialized sports such as golf and scuba diving.

These operating assets include the Banaue Hotel and Youth Hostel in Ifugao; Mount Data Hotel in Bauko, Mt. Province; Club Intramuros Golf Course in Intramuros, Manila; Balicasag Island Five Resort in Panglao, Bohol; Gardens of Malasag Eco-Tourism Village in Cagayan de Oro City; and Zamboanga Golf Course in Zamboanga City, the DOT-Philippines added.

Moreover, the agency’s high-impact projects such as the San Juanico Bridge aesthetic light and sound project, as well as the DOT's flagship programs such as the Bisita, Be My Guest, and Philippine Motorcycle Tourism.

During the float parade, Senator Lito Lapid was accompanied by his son Mark who is also TIEZA’s Chief Operating Officer on the float.

Other winners

Meanwhile, Avilon Zoo got P300,000 as second placer, while Sitel Philippines received P200,000 for settling on the third spot.

In the small float category, Zaparita's Garden won with P250,000 prize. Mang Inasal placed second with P150,000, while the Province of Benguet secured P100,000 for landing third.
