Tinglayan 4Ps no longer need to go to Tabuk for cash aid withdrawals

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries in Tinglayan continue to experience a safer way of getting their family cash assistance as 523 out of 728 of them conveniently received their grants through Point of System (POS) kits on Wednesday, July 21, 2021.

POS kits have some features similar to an automated teller machine (ATM), in a way that it could be used by individuals to determine the amount of money left in their account; however, it could not dispense cash just like the latter could do.

Correspondingly, the Treasure Link Cooperative Society, through its field staff, cash then can be withdrawn with P58.50 service fee.

The Tinglayan Municipal Office reports that said scheme gained positive reactions from yTongrayans since it helped the recipients save money and time going to Tabuk City just to withdraw.

"It is truly helpful for us because we don't need to travel to Tabuk; plus, it is more convenient for people like me who can't understand how to operate the ATM,” a local resident stated.

He added that before the said scheme was introduced, travelling to Tabuk was costly since they had to take their children with them, spending more money for their fare.

Tinglayan MIO reports that said scheme did not only provide a safer way for grantees to transact amidst the emergence of the virus, but the community-based scheme has also received positive feedback from local producers and entrepreneurs.

According to them, the use of POS kits scheme enabled them to promote and market their products to the community and as a result, they generated more income out of it.

"Mayat dituy ta makalaku kami met lang samantalang nu idiay [Tabuk], awan lang. May-mayat ket di pay nu dituy, "a local baker said.

“[Through this], the products of the umili can be sold. In occasion like this, we can sell our produce to the community. We won't need to export them to Tabuk. No need to pay for fare fees...this is much better,” Maria Goyagoy, an yTongrayan farmer added.

As recalled, The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) through SWAD-Kalinga, the Local Government Unit of Tinglayan, Tinglayan Pantawid Office and Treasure Link Cooperative Society launched the use of the POS kits for 4Ps grantees in June which served 184 beneficiaries.
