Tinglayan all set for 2023 Nutrition Month celebration

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Various activities to mark the Nutrition Month celebration in Tinglayan this July were already finalized.

In a meeting held Tuesday, June 20, 2023, the Rural Health Unit of Tinglayan proposed nine contested activities to be participated in by the 20 barangays of Tinglayan particularly pregnant and lactating women, elementary pupils as well as parents and caregivers who have children aged 0 to 5 years old.

Said activities immediately approved by the Local Nutrition Committee of Tinglayan include Teen Chef Contest, Poster-Making Contest, Nutri-Nanay, Cooking Contest, Vlog Contest, Best Gulayan sa Bakuran, Nutri- Healthy Baby, Affordable and original recipes contest, Nutri- Spoken Poetry Contest and Nutri- Story telling Contest:

Prizes for the contested activities are yet to be announced.

Winners, meantime, will be representing the municipality during the Provincial Nutrition Month.

Guidelines for joining the competition

For Tinglayanos who are interested to partake in the event, the local government unit led by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab reminds them of the several guidelines crafted during the meeting.

“All entries by the barangay must be confirmed on or before July 7, 2023,” LGU Tinglayan emphasized.

Participants must be at the site an hour prior to the start of the event as well. In the event that they are late, their final score will be reduced by five points.

Participants must also sign the attendance sheets that are available at the venue. They can use this as their entry ticket to receive their entry number.

This year’s celebration in accordance with Presidential Decree 491 in 1974, crafted to ‘create greater awareness on the importance of nutrition among Filipinos’ is anchored with the theme "Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable for All".
