Tinglayan carries out 2nd dose of Sinovac jabs

Updated: May 12, 2021

Tinglayan, Kalinga –Health workers, local government personnel and persons with comorbidities who got their first Sinovac jab in the municipality received their second dose of the vaccine to complete their vaccination requirement.

A month ago, Tinglayan faced some hesitancy against Covid-19 vaccination, prompting officials to set themselves as examples showing the vaccination is needed and that unnecessary fear should not prevent people from availing of the protection.

The first 21 who were vaccinated on April 8 had their second jab today while the remaining individuals are set to receive their second dose later when they reached the required days needed to wait.

“Diay dadduma ket nu Monday ta isu ti schedule da aginggana na nu Wednesday ta 28 days gamin ti urayen after diay first vaccination da,” Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao said.

The Department of Health said the interval of doses for Sinovac is taken 4 weeks or 28 days apart after getting the first dose.

Number of individuals first listed for innoculation

72 were initially injected with Sinovac in Tinglaya. Of the total, 37 are health personnel, 20 are persons with comorbidities or under the A3 priority list, and 15 are LGU personnel who are under the Quick Substitution List (QSL).

Sixteen individuals who are under the priority list were deferred due to hypertension.

Mayor Gumilab leading the vaccination

During the first vaccine roll-out, health workers were hesitant, but were persuaded when Mayor Gumilab together with Vice Mayor Charlie Abay, Health Officer Dr. Aite Caren Liw-agan, Chairman on Health, SB Bartholeme Aboli, took the lead in the vaccination.

The mayor’s move came after only two from the municipality’s health workers signed and submitted their consent form to be vaccinated.

Next in line to get the vaccine, Lactao informed, are the A2 group or the senior citizens.

“Ang susunod is A2 or the senior citizens pero wala pang signal ang DOH kung kailan ang schedule nila,” she said.

As of May 6, 2021, Tinglayan has no record of Covid-19 active cases.
