Tinglayan ends Women’s Month celebration with talent competitions


Tinglayan, Kalinga – The women of Tinglayan celebrated the culmination of the Women’s Month thru presentation of talents and skills competition held on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the municipal tribal gymnasium.


The Municipal Information Office said it is the LGU's way to foster camaraderie and cooperation as well as to engage women in a friendly competition on singing, poster-making contest, and a match of wits and intelligence.


‘Women are the light of our homes and community’

Municipal Mayor Atty. Sacrament Gumilab who graced the event expressed his support to the women of Tinglayan and thanked them for their contribution to the development and progress of their respective communities. He highlighted that women are the light of homes for teaching and directing their children to be productive citizens.


“Agyaman tayo kadagiti inna tayo ken kakadwa tayo. They are our helpful companion and partner who have also been in the forefront working with the men during the pandemic and numerous other works. It is time we honor them. God bless our women. God bless Tinglayan,” stressed Gumilab on his official social media page.

Moreover, Presentacion Odiem, representing her better half, Vice-Governor Dave Odiem, said that women do not only serve as a guiding light in their family but they are also advocates of peace in the community.


Winners of the activity


Representatives of Upper Bangad won the duet singing using their mother tongue and received a cash prize of P2,000. Butbut Proper emerged in second place with a P1,400 cash prize, followed by Loccong with P1,000.

For the poster-making contest, Centro Bangad garnered P1,000 for winning, while Ambato got P700 for placing second, with Upper Bangad as the third prize winner, receiving P500 in cash.


Butbut Proper dominated the match of wits and intelligence, followed by Ngibat and Loccong. The top three winners were given P1,000, P700, and P500 respectively.

Meanwhile, all participants got a P300 consolation prize.
