Tinglayan launches ‘Search for Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy Ambassador’

Tinglayan, Kalinga – To encourage active participation of the youth on government programs regarding health, environment, peace and order, disaster resiliency, social welfare, tourism, culture and arts in the municipality, the local government unit of Tinglayan is set to launch the ‘Search for Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy Ambassador’ this month.


Larae Lactao of the Municipal Information Office of Tinglayan said the pageant will take off last week of November for the pre-pageant activities.

Pre-pageant activities include the Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy Advocacy Speech, School Awareness Tour, Tourism Promotion, Product Promotion and Community Participation.


As part of the pre-pageant, invited judges from various sectors and government agencies will be visiting the schools of the 10 participating students.


Said participants are from Saint Theresita High school, Tinglayan National High School, Southern National High School, Southern Tinglayan National High School, and Bangad National High School.

Winners of the pageant shall be crowned on December 19 and are expected to receive cash prizes amounting to P66,000.

“Bale isudan iti ambassadors iti program ti munisipyo to the community, especially towards youth. Ti goal gamin ket maaddaan iti awareness dagituy youths tayo iti programs ti government ken ma-encourage da nga ag-participate,” Lactao said.


The schools represented by the participants will likewise be given a separate share on the cash prizes allotted for the search.


For the institutionalization of the search, a proposed ordinance was already crafted by a member of the legislative department of the municipal LGU.


“Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy”


“Tongrayan Umunno-unnoy,” as explained by Municipal Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, is coined from the word “unnoy” meaning better or continuous progress.


This has been the tagline of his administration since 2020, even launching a song in view to promote infrastructure, human, cultural, and economic development in the municipality of Tinglayan.
