Tinglayan, Kalinga – Following a landslide that blocked the Bontoc-Tabuk Road on January 3, 2023, some 30 stranded individuals were assisted by the Local Government Unit of Tinglayan.

The landslide caused by the light to moderate rains that affected the municipality covered part of the road at Sitio Makilo, Bugnay making it impassable for vehicles, thus a need for shelter by the stranded individuals who came from Pasil and Tabuk City.

According to Clemente Basing-at of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management – Office, said persons were provided with shelter through the municipal hall of Tinglayan.

As to their food, Basing-at said they were the ones who provided for the stranded victims.

“No power interruption, no monitored and reported incident, communication networks are working, and stranded passengers were fed and accommodated well,” the officer relayed in an interview with GURU Press Cordillera.

The road is now open to traffic after the landslide was cleared at 1:30 PM today, January 4, as relayed by Basing-at.

As recalled, the landslide-prone road was also temporarily closed on Christmas eve due to a landslide in Sitio Ngilin, Poblacion, Tinglayan.
