Tinglayan LGU recognized for blood-letting initiatives

Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Local Government Unit of Tinglayan through Mayor Sacrament Gumilab recently gained recognition from the Philippine Red-Cross Kalinga for their contribution in the blood programs of the organization during its 8th Chapter General Assembly and Appreciation Night held on December 2, 2022 at the Davidson Hotel.


The event aimed at giving recognitions to partner organizations, local government units and individuals supporting their blood programs.


The recognition was given to the mayor ‘for his dynamic leadership and meritorious services in supporting and promoting the various humanitarian services through fund generation and other services for Red Cross for the year 2019 to 2022’.

In Tinglayan, the local government through the Municipal health Office had been campaigning for the barangays to conduct bloodletting as the LGU targets to collect blood from one percent of the total population of Tinglayan which they conduct each year.


The blood-letting activities in each of the 20 barangays of Tinglayan is being done to ensure that enough blood supply is available during medical and emergency needs.


In a statement, the mayor said Philippine Red Cross-Kalinga has always been ‘instrumental for numerous humanitarian activities that undeniably benefitted his constituents in Tinglayan.


“Through the years, our partnership with Red Cross Kalinga has been beneficial. LGU Tinglayan commits to continuously support Red Cross Kalinga. Let us help Red Cross Kalinga to help our people,” he wrote in Facebook post.
