Tinglayan LGU to undergo SGLG national assessment this Sept. 6

Tinglayan, Kalinga – As Tinglayan LGU passed the regional assessment for the Seal of Good Local Governance, it shall be facing its final hurdle on September 6, which is the national onsite validation and assessment.


Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in an interview, disclosed he is confident that the municipality would pass the evaluation since thorough preparations have been made, with the assistance of the Department of Interior and Local Government – Kalinga.


Some of the preparations made were arrangement of necessary documents, completion of other requirements, and orientation of those heading Civil Society Organizations in the municipality.


As disclosed by the mayor, the assessment does not only check documents but also evaluates whether the documentary requirements could be observed in actual settings.


As emphasized by the local chief executive, the assessment would test how efficient and effective the delivery of services of the LGU in various governance areas, thus its significance to the LGU.


“If you pass, it means the LGU is functioning effectively and efficiently,” he said.


Among governance areas to be evaluated include financial administration, disaster preparedness, social protection and sensitivity, health compliance, and responsiveness.


SGLG also assesses sustainable education, business friendliness and competitiveness, safety, peace, and order, environmental management, tourism, heritage development, culture, and the arts, and youth development.


Local government units who perform excellently and that are evaluated effective and efficient on these governance areas are entitled of a monetary reward they could utilize in funding their locality’s priority projects.
