Tinglayan, Kalinga – The Municipality of Tinglayan, headed by Mayor Sacrament Gumilab awarded over P200,000 to the winners of the search of ‘Healthiest Barangay’, ‘Pumor-asan Academy’, ‘Model Household’ and ‘Green Hand Innovation’ on Monday, December 19.
The winners received their cash prizes and certificates of recognition at the Municipal Hall in Barangay Población.
Said programs were implemented to encourage the residents of Tinglayan to be active partners in the promotion of the health and sanitation program of the LGU for the betterment of the municipality.
Search for Healthy Barangay
In the Search for Healthy Barangay, Barangay Old Tinglayan was adjudged the 1st place winner having an overall score of 73. 89 points.
The barangay was awarded with a P50,000 cash incentive which will be added to the continuous implementation of ecological solid waste management programs and projects.
The 2nd placer was Barangay Ngibat with 67. 82 points, awarded with a P30, 000 cash prize; Barangay Bangad Upper got the 3rd place with 62. 16, bringing home P20, 000 cash award.
Participating barangays were evaluated based on two categories. The first category with an allotment of 36% consisted of the presence of plans, budget support for social services & infrastructure, implementation of the full disclosure policy, presence of functional barangay-based organizations/committees, established barangay local government unit (BLGU) Office, presence of ordinances and its implementation.
The other category with an allotted percentage of 64% was based upon Service Delivery such as water supply, sanitary toilets with waste disposal system, income generation, peace and order and public safety, availability of health services, health practices implementation (based on actual population), nutritional status of the population, maternal and child morbidity and mortality rates.
In the Pumer-asan Academy, the 1st place was conferred to Bangad Elementary School with a P40,000 cash prize, Belong Elementary School was the 2nd place with P30,000; and Locongg Elementary School, 3rd place with a P20,000 cash award.
Winners in Pumur-asan Academy were assessed based on the mechanics provided by the organizer of the said event which includes Student Discipline, Presence of Supporting Facilities, Parent-Teacher involvement, and COVID Vaccination.
For the search for Green Hand Innovation, Mary Agod took the 1st place and was given an amount of P15, 000 as a cash prize, Melanie Agod, 2nd place, receiving an amount of P10, 000; and Glenda Tambalong, 3rd place with P 5, 000 cash award.
Meantime, 20 households from different barangays won the search for Model Household in the Municipality and received P 1, 000 each and a Certificate of Recognition.
