TINGLAYAN recorded zero ‘INDEX CRIME’ from Jan – Oct 2020

Tinglayan, Kalinga – There is zero index crime in the Municipality of Tinglayan from January to October 2020, according to Kalinga Police Provincial Office data.

Index crimes are crimes against person and property which is normally considered the crimes with heavier penalties or punishment. This includes murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, carnapping/carjacking, and cattle rustling.

Tinglayan Municipal Mayor Sacrament Gumilab, in an interview, attributes this accomplishment to the efforts of the Philippine National Police in the province especially in Tinglayan, the barangay officials, the Local Government Unit, the elders and the active cooperation of the yTinglayans.

Gumilab also added that in Tinglayan they have this Peace Core, an organization of the elders which helps settle and prevent crimes.

“So in every barangay, adda ngay iti nabuo nga kasjay [Peace Core] nga organization ... tapnu nu adda makita da nga prob-problema, ayusen da nga dagus. Iprevent na nu kailangan nga maaramid diyay. Agadvice iti ububbing metlang ti maysa nga araramiden da,” he said.

Gumilab persuaded his constituents to maintain close coordination with the PNP and to report any crimes in their area in order to hold perpetrators accountable of their wrongdoings.

“Nu kasjay iti mangyari nga awan buteng ti tattao nga mangireport iti sitwasyon iti ili, sigurado nga mamentenar iti zero index crime iti Tinglayan karkaru ta dagituy kapulisan tayo piman ket talaga nga ipapati da nga mangaramid iti trabaho da,” he added.

From January to October in 2019, Tinglayan recorded 2 index crimes.
