Tinglayan remains as one of Kalinga’s most visited municipality by tourists


Tabuk City, Kalinga – Tinglayan, the home of the oldest hand-tapped tattoo artist, remains one of the most visited municipalities in Kalinga, with a tourist arrival of 19,200 from January to June this year.

Although this is lower by 47 percent from the data on tourist arrivals for the same period last year, which is 40,399.


Based on the consolidated data by the Provincial Tourism Office, 18,646 of said number are domestic tourists, 554 are foreigners, and 81 are overseas Filipino workers.


Larae Lactao of the Municipal Tourism Office revealed Buscalan Tattoo Village, one of this year’s top 12 shortlisted best tourism villages in the region, remains the most visited tourism site in the municipality.


Buscalan has become one of the most visited places not only in Tinglayan but in the entire province, with the presence of Apo Whang-od in the area.


Apart from Buscalan, other tourism sites frequented are Palang-ah Falls, Canaan Falls, the Sleeping Beauty View Deck, and the Macli-ing Dulag Art Piece.

In the entire province, the most frequented locality is still its capital town, Tabuk City, with 39,866 tourist arrivals, followed by Tinglayan. However, in terms of foreign visitors, Tinglayan beat the city’s record of 136.


Next to Tinglayan is Lubuagan with 707 tourist arrivals, Balbalan with 705, and Pasil with 75.


For Pinukpuk, no data was submitted, but during the tourism officers meeting held Friday, Sept. 22, at the Capitol Hills, Bulanao, Hilaria Balagso of Pinukpuk LGU said the most frequented tourism sites in the area are the formidable rocks in Aciga and the Socnan Falls in Asibanglan.


Rizal municipality, just like Pinukpuk, has not forwarded any reports yet.
