Tinglayan, Kalinga – Aimed at ensuring blood supply sufficiency in the community blood bank in times of medical and emergency needs, the local government of Tinglayan has been sustaining its blood donation drive, starting with the staff of the Tinglayan Town Hall in 2023 as blood donors.

Blood collection efforts have already become one of the regular programs of the municipality with the leadership of Mayor Sacrament Gumilab through the Municipal Health Office.

The local government was even recognized last year by the Philippine Red Cross- Kalinga for its contribution to the blood programs of the organization.

On the conduct of same event in the municipality Wednesday, July 19, 12,150 ml of blood were successfully extracted from 27 volunteers and employees of the local government unit.

A mobile blood donation drive will follow in various barangays of Tinglayan, particularly in the far-flung areas.

The LGU aims to collect blood from 1% of each barangay's entire population in Tinglayan.

Accordingly, Tinglayan Health Office keeps track of the amount donated per barangay, which in turn can be accessed by the barangay, particularly those who need to undergo a blood transfusion.

To avail themselves of blood, the local government said Tinglayanos may contact the rural health unit through their hotline, 0926-086-8330.

“The municipal health office of Tinglayan, headed by Dr. Aite Karen Liw-agan, is always ready to help constituents in need as well as the local government unit of Tinglayan; thus, we encourage our ‘kailyans’, particularly those in need of such services, to feel free to seek help from the office,” Mayor Gumilab said in a statement.
