Tinglayan Taekwondo players snatch 6 medals in regional championship

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Despite being a newly-established Taekwondo group, the Tinglayan Taekwondo Fighters Club proved that hard work and discipline pay off following their triumph in the recently held Regional Age Group Taekwondo Championship in Banaue, Ifugao.

The team, which was organized in 2022, brought home three gold medals and three bronze medals in the event.

The medalists include Judeline Etma, Shizue Ando, Nicki Saggot, Lyka Masi, Raynelyn Manallog, and Mirriam Bang-as.

They were coached and trained for the competition by Laurel Saggot.

In a statement, the group conveyed their gratitude to their parents and coaches for their support.

They likewise thanked the local government unit for their unwavering support of the athletes by providing their rides during the competition.

"With heartfelt gratitude, we extend our sincerest thanks to MLGU Tinglayan for their unwavering support in providing our rides and also to the drivers for their patience in waiting until the end of the competition,” the group wrote.

Meanwhile, the club urges all Tinglayanos, especially the youth, to join them in their Taekwondo sessions on weekends at Tinglayan National High School.

The club, at present, has 30 members and is composed of elementary, high school, and senior high school students.
