Tinglayan vaccinates 72.5 % of target population

Tinglayan, Kalinga – Even after experiencing public hesitancy with COVID-19 inoculation for some time, Tinglayan jabbed about 72 percent of its target population.


The Municipal Health Office of Tinglayan said the LGU fully vaccinated 6,842 out of 9,347 target as of July 11, 2022.


The municipality as recalled was one among municipalities in Kalinga which experienced a low turnout of vaccinations.


Municipal Information Officer Larae Lactao informed the achievement provided a level of confidence to the municipality to drive economic activity in town.

In order to increase the numbers of jabs, Kalinga Provincial Health Office along with the local government of Tinglayan and other national line agencies launched the national vaccination drive in the area and was conducted twice.


The Municipal Health Office likewise conducted barangay vaccinations in all the villages with the support of Mayor Sacrament Gumilab.


Barangay vaccination is a strategy of the municipality which required the personnel of the MHO to go directly to the barangays to inoculate all eligible yTinglayans who were not able to go to their Rural Health Unit to receive the vaccine.


Meantime, vaccination continues at the Rural Health Unit with several brands of COVID-19 vacccine.

Vaccines available are 16 doses of Pfizer for adult , 250 doses Pfizer for 5 – 11 years old, 86 Sinovac doses , 10 Astrazeneca doses and 20 Moderna doses which is available for first, second dose vaccination, and booster shots.


For Dengue, the MHO said cases of dengue in the community decreased. Barangays with dengue cases are Old Tinglayan and Lulupa. Both have 2 cases, Poblacion with 3, and Mallango, one case.


Tinglayan MHO reminds the public to do their part in battling against dengue, to clean their surroundings particularly those areas where mosquitos breed.
