Toddler found dead in Tabuk’s irrigation canal

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A 2-year-old was found floating in an irrigation canal in Barangay San Juan, Tabuk City, Kalinga around 3:00 pm of January 15, 2021.

Based on the report of Tabuk City Police Station, a teenager who found the body narrated that he was about to wash his hands at the irrigation since he just came from the rice field when he came across the toddler, floating.

Out of fear, he called the attention of his uncle, and the latter immediately went into the water to retrieve the body. The responding personnel were about to extricate the body when the parents arrived and identified their child.

Meanwhile, the father of the victim told the police that the toddler was left under the care of his brother since he and his wife were at work. At around 1:00pm, the father asked his older child where the victim was but was told that he might be at the neighborhood playing. However, by 4:00pm, he received the news that their boy drowned.

The father stated that just below their house in Bulanao is the irrigation canal where their son might have played with other kids and that he might have fallen into the irrigation canal.

Bargy. Kagawad Tanny Gallamoy, meantime, advised parents who are living near the irrigation to be watchful of their kids in order to avoid a repeat of the situation.
