Traffic violations in Kalinga yield P2.3M in 3 months


Tabuk City, Kalinga – As much as motorists with traffic violations try to avoid getting citations and tickets, a number of them were still apprehended by the police in the past three months.

 

Road traffic infringements remain one of the common offenses being committed in Kalinga with over P2 million fines collected from motorists from January to March 2024.

 

During the Kapehan at the Provincial Capitol on April 1, the Kalinga Police Provincial Office reported that a total of 1,822 motorists in the province were given traffic citations and tickets during the said period.


The number generated a total of P2,394,050 in penalties.

 

Among the violations, the top offense committed is the wearing of no helmet with 607 violations; followed by driving without license with 310; no OR/CR, 230; and no license plate with 33 violations.

 

In 2023, the Land Transportation Office reported that a total of 529,578 motorists in the Philippines were apprehended for traffic violations. The Cordillera region had the least contribution to the figure with 10,520.
