Tabuk City, Kalinga – The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Kalinga disclosed in an interview that the Treasure’s Fair held from February 14 to 27 generated a total sale of P3,053,952, benefitting local entrepreneurs who suffered the impact of the pandemic in their business activities.
Officer-in-Charge of Industry Development Division and Trade and Promotion Officer Benedicta B. Mangadap informed that 62 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) participated in said trade fair.
The event, she said, was conducted to help the local producers bounce back from their economic losses because of the imposition of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
The five MSME entrepreneurs selling furniture and furnishings generated the highest sale amounting to P1,213,150 followed by the 20 wearable and fashion accessories sellers that generated P811,928.
Meanwhile, 16 establishments selling processed foods report around P430,979 worth of sales; P425,992 for the 18 ornamental plants section; and P171,903 for those selling gifts and house decors or handicrafts.
Apart from these, around 20 assisted individual MSMEs also joined the trade fair. These, according to Mangadap, are those under the special program of the department such as Integrated Natural Resources Environmental Management Project (INREMP), Negosyo Center, and Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP).
“Dagidiay inik-ikkan mi ti livelihood seedling programs with the agreement they also have to showcase their products in return, tapnu adda ti kunada a responsibility da. They show their products and then we will help them promote their products,” explained Mangadap.
Women’s Month Summer Bazaar
A separate Summer Bazaar launched in partnership with the city government on March 15 to 20 with 32 women entrepreneurs, also generated P485,000 from the ornamental plants sale and P104,865 from the wearable and home styles section.
The more or less 20 establishments who participated from March 21 to April 24 also generated around P367, 763.
Mangadap advised the local MSMEs to continue innovating their products in order to attract more consumers.
“Kasi nu same products, adda tu time nga awan gumat-gatang, so they need to innovate, diay ti number one. They have to try to produce quality products and be creative in their innovations da tapnu tuloy-tuloy nga adda ti something new,” the Trade and Promotion Officer highlighted.
