Tricycle driver dies while trying to park in front of house on Christmas Day

Jones, Isabela - A man died after the tricycle he was driving was involved in a fatal accident on Christmas Day, December 25, 2023, in Jones, Isabela.

Jones police identified the fatality as Joseph Agustin, a tricycle driver and a resident of Barangay Dalibon, Jones.

According to a local media report, Agustin was supposed to park his tricycle in front of his house on the evening of said day. Before getting to his place, he has to cross through the opposite lane of the road first.

When Agustin entered the other lane, a Toyota Hilux, driven by Erwin Crisostomo, 37, accidentally hit his vehicle.

Police disclosed that Crisostomo was speeding at the time of the incident.

Due to the crash, the victim sustained severe injuries in various parts of his body.

He was rushed to a hospital by responding authorities, but he was unable to survive.

Crisostomo, meanwhile, is now in police custody for further investigation and proper disposition.

He will be facing charges for reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and damage to property.
