Trike driver raping 17-year-old in Rizal, Kalinga arrested

Rizal, Kalinga – A year after the incident, a 33-year-old driver who was accused of raping a minor was arrested at the border control point in Barangay Romualdez Sunday afternoon, May 15,2022.


The suspect is listed by the police as the number nine most wanted person in the Province of Kalinga for the second quarter of 2022.

According to Police Captain Ruff Manganip, Rizal Chief of Police, a complaint was filed against the suspect for allegedly taking advantage of a 17-year-old student.

Manganip said that the incident was said to have happened in March 2021 when the suspect texted the victim, inviting her to visit some place. Out of curiosity, the victim claimed that she agreed to go with him.


The two used the suspects ‘ongbak’ and traveled towards the direction of Tabuk City. However, the suspect stopped at Sitio Spring, Liwan West and told the victim to get down from the vehicle and proceed to the grass for them to talk and have some snacks.

While at the area, the suspect allegedly ordered the minor to lie down on the grass and when she refused, the 33-year-old was said to have grabbed and pinned her down then raped her.


The suspect’s arrest warrant was issued by the court on April 27, 2022 with no bail recommended and was served on May 15.


The 33-year-old is now under the custody of the Rizal Municipal Police Station.
