Tuguegarao police hit by ambulance, in critical condition

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan – A member of the Philippine National Police is under critical condition after he was accidentally hit by an ambulance with no patient on board at around 1:45 a.m. this January 26, 2022.

The report of Tuguegarao City Police Station (TCPS) identified the victim as a certain Police Corporal (PCpl.) Rodolfo Tumaliuan, 30, married, a member of TCPS, and a resident of Annafunan East, Tuguegarao City while the suspect is Eduardo Tolentino, Jr., 43, married, driver of Rescue Ambulance, and a resident of Takiki, Gattaran, Cagayan.

Investigation revealed that the accident happened while the victim was manning the Commission on Election (COMELEC) checkpoint at QCP Carig. The suspect aboard the Rescue Ambulance owned by the local government unit of Gattaran was driving fast when he hit the victim.

Tumaliuan was thrown approximately 15 meters away, causing him to sustain severe injuries in parts of his body.

The suspect brought the victim to Cagayan Valley Medical Center for immediate medical attention.

For proper disposition, the suspect and the Gattaran LGU-owned rescue ambulance were later brought to Tuguegarao City Police Station.

Further investigation is being conducted by the authorities.
