Typhoon-affected corn farmers in Paracelis get P10M agricultural aid

Paracelis, Mt. Province - To help corn farmers in the municipality cope with the damages brought by super typhoon “Paeng” last year, the Department of Agricultural - Cordillera distributed P10 million worth of agricultural aid in Paracelis, Mt. Province.


In a press release Thursday, Sept. 28, 2023, the agency said the given assistance likewise aimed to continuously improve corn production in the municipality.


Paracelis is listed by the agency as the fourth widest corn farm area in the Cordilleras and one of the biggest corn-producing municipality.

On Sept. 27-28, seeds amounting to P2,299,200, inorganic fertilizers worth P7,137,816, and P942,000 worth of organic pesticides has been handed by the agency to 471 corn farmers in the town.


Each beneficiary received 1 bag of yellow corn seeds, 8 bags of different fertilizers, and 2 bottles of organic pesticides for every hectare of their affected farm.


As for the fund, the budget for said agricultural inputs is taken from the country’s Department of Agriculture Quick Response Fund.


Meanwhile, Mt. Province PLGU expressed gratitude to the national government for its support to the calamity-affected farmers in the province while encouraging the farmers to use the given aids accordingly to ensure its affectivity.
