Typhoon Carina affected 1,488 families, partially damaged 12 houses in Cordillera

Baguio City, Philippines – A total of 1,448 families in the region have been affected by Typhoon Carina as of July 25, according to the Department of Social Welfare and Development- Cordillera.


These totaled to 5,819 individuals who reside in 39 barangays of Abra, Baguio City, Benguet and Mt. Province.


In the monitoring made by the agency, 10 displaced families or 58 individuals are currently seeking refuge in 4 evacuation centers in Baguio City, Tuba and La Trinidad, Benguet.


For others, they are staying at their friends and relatives’ houses. These include 23 families or 94 persons from Bangued, Abra, Baguio City, Tuba, Benguet, and Barlig and Bauko in Mt. Province.


As for damaged houses, 12 are partially damaged as of this writing. DSWD-CAR, however, failed to mention the location of said houses in their situational report.


On the assistance provided by the agency along with local government units, an amount of P31,500 was already provided to the typhoon victims.


There are still available relief resources amounting to over P78 million.


“The situation remains under control, with the concerned local government units and national government agencies actively monitoring developments and coordinating efforts to address the needs of affected communities. Updates will be provided from time to time,” DSWD-CAR stated.
