Typhoon ‘Kiko’ leaves P54M initial estimated damage in Cagayan

Cagayan, Philippines – Typhoon ‘Kiko left around P54,167,412 damage in Cagayan Province based on the current estimate of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO). Assessment of damages in the different parts of the province is still ongoing.


Cagayan Provincial Information Office reported that based on the monitoring of the PDRRMO, around P33,087,412 damage was initially recorded on agriculture affecting 515 hectares of rice field and 112 hectares of corn plantations, while damage to livestock is estimated to be around P150,000 .

Additionally, 818 rice farmers, 93 corn cultivators and 11 fisherfolk were also identified as among those affected by the onslaught of the typhoon.


The PDRRMO also reported P54,167,412, P20,930,000 worth of damage to infrastructure.


Meantime, evacuees in the province have already returned to their houses, while the 58 individuals who were supposed to head to Fuga Island and Calayan remain stranded.


Typhoon Kiko landfall in Ivana, Batanes morning of September 11.


The typhoon left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Sunday afternoon, September 12.
