Ubao dominates 2023 “Apar Ad Aguinaldo”


Aguinaldo, Ifugao – Garnering the highest score, Ubao village of Aguinaldo, Ifugao was proclaimed as the overall champion in this year’s “Apar Ad Aguinaldo” celebration.


In determining the ranks of its 16 barangays, the municipal government unit of Aguinaldo designated points to the 20 contested events it prepared.


For the cultural parade, the top three winning villages got 50, 40, and 30 points, respectively. Other barangays who participated received 20 points for their effort.


As for the native dance, tug of war, karkalamet (male and female), akkad, ag-agto/ tapfa race, kadang-kadang, volleyball (male and female), basketball, and combo competitions, 40 points was given to first placers, 30 for second placers, 20 for third placers, and 10 for others.


Top winners for mun-olot and munpfaju got 25, 20, and 15, respectively.


Points to the top three in hanggor, aawait, horhortin, hiwwo, munlakha hi tag-khai, muntalaid hi chotar, and manglon were 20, 25, and 10, respectively.

Winning Barangays


After dominating basketball (men), volleyball (women), manglon and native dance, Ubao scored 300, the highest among all the barangays. Pojnaan came second with 280 points followed by Bunhian with 270; Damag and Majlong with 260; and Galonogon with 250 points.


Meanwhile, Mongayang garnered 240; Ta-ang, 220; Awayan, 215; Chalalo, Jacmal, Talite, all 180; Buwag, 165; Butac, 150; Halag, 130; and Itab, 100.


Inter-school Winners


For its inter-school events, Aguinaldo National High School ranked first in musical theater, extemporaneous speech and declamation, while Itab Integrated School placed second both in the theater and declamation.


Rufino I. Chugalao Science High School, meanwhile, settled third in extemporaneous speech and declamation.


On the other hand, Ubao National High School ranked second in extemporaneous speech and third in musical theater.

Invitational Activities


Jemuel Aggalao from Kalinga won the youth category of the Eagle of the Mountain – Fun Bike, followed by Anthony Morales and Gregory Jade Coloma. For the executive men category of the same contest, Darwin Matterig, Roderick Acosta and Remuel Sabado were hailed as winners.


Dennis Pelero, Elixer Colorado and Boots Miranda were the winners in the elite men, while Fernalyn Hidalgo and Darren Joyce Matterig won the women category.


Certificates and cash prizes of P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 were given to the top three winners, consecutively.
