Ulysses displaced 170 families in Kalinga; Pinukpuk recorded the most number

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A total of 170 families comprising of 652 individuals in Kalinga were reportedly displaced during the occurrence of Typhoon Ulysses; this is according to the report by the Social Welfare and Development- Kalinga as of 9 AM on Sunday, November 15.


77 families comprising of 280 individuals were served inside evacuation centers while 43 families with 177 persons were outside evacuation centers and reportedly asked for shelter with their relatives.


In Balbalan, 43 families comprising of 175 individuals from Gawaan, Maling, Poblacion, Balantoy, Balbalan proper and Mabaca were affected by flooding. Evacuees according to Project Development Officer II Ivy Mariano of SWAD office- Kalinga had already returned to their houses after water level receded.


Mariano likewise mentioned that food assistance to the evacuees was provided by LGU Balbalan.


In Pasil, flooding also displaced some 41 families composed of 160 individuals. These numbers came from the Barangays of Ableg, Bagtayan, Dalupa, Galdang, Guinaang and Magsilay. Evacuees, as of yesterday, were reported to still be at the evacuation centers.


As for Pinukpuk, there are 69 families in Barangay Taga (244 individuals) affected. 242 individuals evacuated to Pinukpuk Vocational School and 1 family with two individuals were temporary sheltered with their relative. Food assistance was provided by Pinukpuk MLGU amounting to P76,764.00 and BLGU amounting to P10,100.00.


According to SWAD officer Mariano, a relief operation was done in Pinukpuk on Friday with the move of Provincial Administrator Atty. Ken Martinez as instructed by Governor Ferdinand Tubban, November 13.


136 family food packs and 68 family kits amounting to P 224, 030.08 was provided to the affected families.


In Lubuagan, 17 families( 64 individuals) from Barangays Lower Uma, Western Uma, and Antonio Canao were among the displaced during the typhoon.


1 family composing of 8 individuals in Ngibat, Tinglayan and 1 family comprising of 3 individuals in Upper Taloctoc were added to the list.


As for damaged houses, a total of 83 houses were reported to be partially damaged, 1 from Lubuagan was totally wrecked.


As for other municipalities with houses partially damage, 12 are from Lubuagan, 2 in Tanudan, 1 in Tinglayan, 28 in Balbalan and 41 from the Municipality of Pasil.


According to Mariano, SWAD Kalinga under DSWD- CAR is just waiting for request from LGUs if they need assistance with regards to relief packs as they are ready to assist when their service is needed.

“If they are still at the evacuation centers tapos wala ng maibibigay ang LGU, immediately magrerequest sila, immediately magrerespond din tayo pero as per report nila, nakauwi na po yung mga evacuees nila so okay na po siya,” Mariano said.
