Baguio City, Philippines – Unattended cooking caused a residential fire at Santo Niño Subdivision, Bengao, Bakakeng Central, on Tuesday, Oct. 17.

The fire broke out around 2:35 p.m. on said date and was put out at 3:20 p.m.

Accordingly, while cooking for dinner using some firewood, a certain Cherelyn Borja decided to help her live-in partner, Anselmo Utalan, clean their surroundings. The two, according to the police, were caretakers of said house.

While cleaning, the two heard a loud bang, and when they checked, the fire had already started.

No individual, in the meantime, was harmed by the incident. Luckily, the main house located nearby was not included in the fire.

Damage was pegged at p9,000 based on initial assessment conducted by the Bureau of Fire Protection.
