1 killed, 2 injured in Bucay, Abra in shooting incident; gunman still to be identified

Bucay, Abra - Three men in Bucay, Abra were having a drinking session on Tuesday, August 20, when an unidentified gunman arrived at their drinking place and shot them all without warning, killing one of them and injuring two others.


The casualty was identified as Johnny Marilag, 57, while the injured individuals were Joshua Marquez and Arnold Trinidad, both adults.


In the investigation conducted by the Bucay Municipal Police Station, the three were drinking at a hut in Sitio Burubor, Barangay Bangcagan, Bucay when the incident transpired.


The yet-to-be-known suspect, after shooting the victims multiple times, fled from the crime scene using a Black Yamaha NMAX 155, heading to Tayum, Abra.


Notified of the incident, the responding medical team rushed the victims to a hospital nearby. Unfortunately, Marilag was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, while Marquez and Trinidad are currently recuperating at the hospital.


Further investigations are now being conducted to determine the motive behind the crime and for the arrest of the gunman.
