‘Use waste bins, saan tayo basta agibelleng wennu agwara’ - Appas BLGU to residents, passersby

Tabuk City, Kalinga - The Barangay Local Government Unit of Appas is reminding its residents and passersby about proper waste disposal to maintain the cleanliness of the community.

With the rising concerns over improper disposal of waste in some parts of the country, the BLGU said that everyone plays a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness of their place.

Under the leadership of Barangay Captain Bernard Glenn Dao-as, the barangay officials have been conducting education campaigns geared towards raising awareness about the impact of waste on the health and well-being of the community.

Dao-as, in an interview, reiterated the use of waste bins and discipline, saying “pangaasi yo… you can use the waste bins, dagita pagbasuraan nga naikabil dita para iti purpose na. Saan tayo kuma nga basta agibelleng wennu agwara.”

Apart from the campaigns, residents and passersby were also advised to utilize the waste bins installed in the barangay instead of throwing their waste in inappropriate areas. They were likewise urged to participate in the community clean-up activities.

As pointed out by the BLGU, a responsible culture, and love for the environment will lead to a much more sustainable and nicer place to live.

In an interview with Guru Press Cordillera, Appas Barangay Kagawad Martin M. Bolicday said their weekly clean-up drive would be of no use if residents and passersby continue throwing their wastes improperly.

“Diay daduma, dagita lumabas agibeleng da lattan dita igid kalsada…Our clean-up drives are important in maintaining cleanliness; ngem nu ti tao ket agibeleng da lattan nu anya anya ditan… uray ada agdaldalos nu ada met agwarwara, awan latta.” he relayed.

As the barangay continues its clean-up efforts, the barangay kagawad called on residents and visitors to take to heart their role in preserving the beauty and cleanliness of the community, underscoring that ‘even a small change in attitude can result in huge progress’.

"Ti bassit a panagbalbaliw iti ugali ket mabalin nga agresulta iti dakkel a panagrang-ay." he stated.
