Vegetable porter found dead in Benguet’s road canal

Tuba, Benguet – A 42-year-old vegetable porter was found dead in a roadside canal due to a motorcycle accident along Sitio Pacac, Tadiangan, Asin Road, Tuba, Benguet.

He was found Monday, August 1, about 70 meters away from the road. The fatality was named by Tuba police as Reynante Libao, married and a resident of Coplo, Sablan, Benguet.

A police narrative said he came from Baguio City and was about to go home to Sablan town when he encountered an accident. Investigations surmise he was swept away by the canal waters after falling into the canal with his motorcycle.

Police further said in a report by Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation that the slippery road brought by the inclement weather condition might have caused the casualty to lose control of his motorbike.

The remains of the man did not undergo autopsy as it was immediately brought to a funeral home along Marcos Highway.

This rainy season, it is n0t the first time that a motorcycle crash is blamed on weather conditions.

In July, an 18-year-old student from Itogon, Benguet was also killed after he got involved in an accident for the same reason while traversing Romulo Drive in Baguio City.
