Victory Liner asked to explain side on Nueva Ecija bus shooting that killed live-in partners

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Victory Liner Inc. will be appearing before the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board tomorrow, November 21, 2023, about the recent shooting incident in Nueva Ecija.

The tragic event involved live-in partners, a 60-year-old woman from Cauayan City, Isabela and a 55-year-old from Koronadal, South Cotabato, who were on board a Victory Liner bus heading to Manila on November 15.

While the two were napping on the front seats, the unidentified assailants moved forward and shot them in the head and neck.

Two days after the incident, Victory Liner received a show cause order from LTFRB, directing them to explain why their Certificate of Public Convenience (CPC) should not be revoked or cancelled for alleged failure to provide ‘safe, adequate, comfortable and dependable’ public transportation.

Person of interest

The police have identified the female victim’s son as a person of interest due to a dispute between them.

Carranglan, Nueva Ecija Chief of Police, PMaj. Rey Ian Agliam earlier told the media that the son was said to have not approved of his mother’s relationship with the 55-year-old victim. He further revealed that the female victim filed carnapping and robbery charges against her son.

Committed to fostering safe travel

In an official statement, Victory Liner condoled with the victims’ families. They conveyed they are working closely with the police to ensure a thorough probe into the incident.

“Safety and security remain our top priorities, and we are implementing immediate measures to address this situation. The management is committed to fostering safe travel for all,” the bus company wrote.
