‘Violators of quarrying rules will be penalized regardless of influence or power’ – Kalinga PLGU

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Violators will be penalized ‘regardless of their influence or power’, this statement was made by the Kalinga PLGU through its Environment and Natural Resources Office during the orientation of job orders to be deployed at quarry sites in the province.

To strengthen its capacity to monitor and manage its natural resources effectively, the provincial government plans to send extraction site checkers across the province this July.

48 job order employees shall be assigned in 23 barangays in Kalinga where the quarry operations are.

The Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO), led by Engineer Dominic Jude Sugguiyao, successfully oriented the employees on Friday, July 19, 2024.

In the orientation, the employees were provided adequate knowledge required in their assignments, including the skills they can use once they encounter problems while performing their duties.

The employees will monitor and check extraction sites in 13 barangays in Tabuk, 6 barangays in Pinukpuk, 2 in Pasil, and 2 in Balbalan in compliance with environmental rules and regulations.

The Office emphasized that violators of rules and regulations set by law will be penalized ‘regardless of their influence or power’.

As mentioned by the province’s Information Office, this initiative showcases the PLGU’s commitment to sustainable resource management and regulatory enforcement.
