"Voting in Cordillera is generally peaceful"- PNP Cordillera

La Trinidad, Benguet - Despite some monitored election-related incidents in the region, the Police Regional Office says the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections in the Cordillera are generally peaceful.

This was announced by PNP-Cordillera in a press conference held on Oct. 30, 2023, at Camp Bado Dangwa, La Trinidad, Benguet.

As told by the police, there were 8 incidents monitored to have transpired while the voting was ongoing, which include five verified election-related incidents; two are yet-to-be verified, while another is not election-related.

Said incidents were said to have happened in Abra.

In connection, the delayed casting of votes in Tineg, Abra, due to a shooting incident that happened within the perimeter of the polling area, resumed shortly after the incident.

Serving as the electoral boards were trained personnel from the PNP.

To cover for the delay, the voting was extended for at least four hours in said polling precinct.
