BFAR launches scholarship program: Application is still ongoing

Tabuk City, Kalinga -Application for the Fisheries Scholarship Program of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources - Kalinga is still ongoing.

 

FCP is being granted to incoming grade 12 students and also incoming college students who will be taking up a Bachelor of Science in Fisheries.

 

Who are qualified to apply?

 

The program targets students whose parents are members of various aquaculture organizations across the province or those whose parents are registered in the Juan Magsasaka Registration System (formerly the fishR).

 

In an interview with the GURU Press Cordillera, BFAR – Kalinga added that the program is also open to students who belong to the Indigenous cultural communities (ICCs), or Indigenous Peoples (IPs) recognized by the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).


As part of the agency’s selection procedure, an examination will be conducted this October 2024. The examination will assess if the applicant deserves the scholarship.

 

Scholarship benefits

 

After passing all the assessments, the beneficiaries are entitled to be granted monetary assistance.

 

These include a P5,000 monthly stipend, P3,000 practicum support, P2,000 book allowance, P7,000 thesis support, P1,500 graduation support, P3,000 one-time allowance if the students will be going to another school or university, and P2,000 one-time uniform allowance, among others.
