Wanna fish at Burnham Lake? Find out how…

Baguio City, Philippines – Recreational fishing will soon be enjoyed by anglers in the summer capital as the city government announced Monday, June 13, 2022 that they are accepting license application for such activity at Burnham Park.

Application for licenses to fish is to be processed at the City Environment and Parks Management Office (CEPMO), according to Public Information Office of Baguio.

Baguio residents wanting to catch fish at the Lake are mandated to get a one-time license from said office before they start swinging their fishing rods while non-residents are told to get permit per fishing session.

The license is non-transferable.

Other requirements for Anglers

Those who want to engage in angling activity should have basic knowledge on fishing.

Anglers are not allowed to bring home the fish as the policy is ‘catch and release back’.

For minors, they should be accompanied by guardian when fishing.

Anglers are also reminded to observe health and safety protocols, practice clean as you go policy, bring their own fishing equipment, and that only 10 people are allowed to fish at a time.

Each person is only allowed to fish for a maximum of two hours.

"Violations such as tampering and/or illegal use of the license/permit shall be a ground for cancellation and non-approval of fishing activity,” PIO Baguio wrote basing from the guidelines set.

Meantime, the city government underscored that they will not be liable for untoward incidents that may arise while doing the activity particularly when anglers are at fault.
