‘We won’t stop till we catch you’ – Tanudan Mayor Dagadag to illegal loggers

Tanudan, Kalinga – Mayor Jaedicke Rhoss Dagadag has once again reminded the public that there is no place for illegal activities in Tanudan, stressing, “haan mi sardengan dagiti agar-aramid iti illegal idiay Tanudan aginggana matiliw kayo.”

 

The mayor made the statement following the recovery of illegally sawn lumber in Dupligan, Tanudan on March 17, 2025. The operation which was launched by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the barangay LGU, the uniformed personnel, and the Municipal LGU resulted in the confiscation of P520,165 worth of Narra flitches.

 

Mayor Dagadag, who along with the authorities has been relentless in implementing the anti-illegal logging law, stressed the importance of conserving Tanudan’s resources.

 

“Kasanu ngay iti sumaruno nga generations iti Tanudan nu ibusen tayo iti kayo? Ammu yu nga dakkel katulungan dagita kayo karkaru nu kalamidad iti tungtungan,” the mayor emphasized as he urged the people to preserve trees as they have huge roles in countering serious calamities.

 

Dagadag likewise stressed they are serious in apprehending those who violate the law, further noting that it is not only illegal logging which the LGU and the national line agencies are closely monitoring, but all other illegal activities such as gambling, illegal drugs, and criminal activities.

 

“Amin nga illegal nga aramid ket maiparit idiay Tanudan. Peaceful iti ili tayo, ket madi tayo pulos itulok nga agpaserrek iti pasugalan ta isu dayta iti pagrugyan iti gulo ken daduma nga krimen,” he asserted, recounting he was even bribed with money just to let illegal activities in Tanudan happen without interventions of the authorities.

 

The local chief executive renewed his appeal to the public to continuously support and cooperate, encouraging them to immediately report to the authorities should they observe any prohibited activities happening in their communities.
