Wife kills husband after heated argument in Calayan, Cagayan

Calayan, Cagayan – A 47-year-old housewife will be facing a parricide case after she allegedly killed her husband in Sitio Suong, Balatubat, Calayan Island.

The parricide case against her is set to be filed next week, according to police.

The suspect identified by police as Agnes Berdin killed her own husband – Avelino Berdin last Thursday, December 8, after a heated argument.

PLT Victor Bis, Deputy Chief of Police Calayan Police Station, through an interview with Bombo Radyo Tuguegarao, relayed that after receiving a report regarding the incident, the police stationed in said barangay immediately responded to the place of incident at 10 PM of said date.

There, they saw the victim lying face down and non-responsive. When checked by the nurse who accompanied the authorities, the victim was already lifeless.

Bis said police found a chopped wood with blood stains beside the victim which they believed was the hard object used in hitting the victim in the head.

In the investigation made, police found that the husband and wife were the only individuals present in the area when the incident happened.

The police narrative added that after a heated argument, the suspect hit her husband in the head with a ‘hard object’ resulting in his immediate death.

In their interview with one of the residents in the area, the said individual said he heard the two having an argument late morning of said date before the incident took place.

“Bago mangyari ang krimen, may napadaan doon na magsasaka at narinig niyang nag-aaway yung dalawa,” Bis said.

The wife was also said to have attended an event in the barangay’s center and went home drunk before the killing.
