Woman in Cabagan, Isabela drowns after falling off a bridge from tricycle

Isabela, Philippines – A 30-year-old woman drowned in a freak accident in Cabagan, Isabela at around 6:30 AM of Wednesday morning, September 21, 2022 after a tricycle she boarded crashed into the side of the bridge throwing her off to the river.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office identified the victim as Marilyn Masiddo Paccarangan, married, and a resident of San Rafael Alto, Sto. Tomas, Isabela.

The victim was said to be on board a tricycle driven by Rody Aggabao, 58, and a resident of the same place when the incident happened.

Aggabao was traversing Cansan-Bagutari overflow bridge when he accidentally crashed the vehicle against the side of the bridge. With the impact, his passenger, Paccarangan, fell off straight into the river.

After having been alerted of the accident, MDRRMO of Cabagan and Sto. Tomas with the Cabagan Rescue Team 911, police and fire fighters in the locality immediately launched a search, rescue, and retrieval operations.

The body of the victim was finally retrieved along Barangay Garita, Cabagan at 11:41 AM.

Poblacion Sto. Tomas extended their condolences to the victim’s family and cautioned motorists to remain alert when passing through the bridge.

In February, a father and son likewise drowned in the area after their motorcycle fell into the river.
