Woman who scammed P.8M from netizens arrested in Baguio City

Baguio City, Philippines – A woman tagged by the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit-Cordillera as topmost wanted for the second quarter this year fell into the hands of the police on Saturday, June 10, in Baguio City.

The 39-year-old accused whose name was withheld was arrested by the operatives at a mall on said date, the Mt. Province Broadcasting Corporation reported.

Her arrest was ordered by the court after she allegedly duped four individuals – 2 females and 2 males into investing in her business last year, telling them they could earn 20 – 40% interest.

In spite of only meeting the suspect who is a resident of Pasig City on social media, the four victims sent their money through GCash and Bank.

After receiving a total amount of ₱877,067.00, the 39-year-old woman allegedly disappeared and couldn’t be contacted on Messenger and Facebook. Her phone number was also unreachable.

The suspect was brought to the custody of the Regional Anti-Cyber Crime Unit-Cordillera prior to her turn-over to the court.
