Wounded soldiers in Balbalan clash recover, now back to work

Balbalan, Kalinga – The two wounded government troops in the armed encounter in Balbalan last week have already recovered and returned to work.

 

It can be recalled that on Friday, May 31, two consecutive clashes happened between soldiers under the 503rd Infantry Brigade and suspected members of the Komiteng Larangang Guerilla (KLG) Baggas in Balbalan.

 

The first exchange of fire happened around 10:30 a.m. in Balbalan Proper, while the next one occurred around 1:00 p.m. in Balantoy.


The second encounter resulted in the injuries of Cpl Jonard L. Addatu and PFC Rojemar A. Cuyen who were immediately brought to the hospital.

 

5th Infantry Division Spokesperson, Major Rigor Pamittan told GURU Press Cordillera that the two were slightly wounded from gunshots and have already recovered from their injuries. He added that they are back to work.

 

Authorities, meantime, recovered from the two encounter sites war materials like long firearms, improvised explosive devices, ammunitions, and other belongings of the KLG Baggas.
