yKalinga OFWs in Israel elated over Gov. Edduba’s message of encouragement

Tabuk City, Kalinga - Kalinga Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) - Israel Chapter expressed gratitude to Governor James Edduba through a statement sent to Station 01 Radio on Saturday, February 25, 2023.

The message, they said, is timely in providing encouragement to them as being an overseas worker is not easy, especially in dealing with nostalgia and the feeling of being disconnected due to distance and time difference.

The chapter’s president, Thomas Macar, relayed their gratefulness to the governor for his message and update with a hope that “agtultuloy ti Lumin-awa-an dita Kalinga gapu iti leadership mo a kas maysa nga governor”.

Earlier, the group held their own simple celebration of the Kalinga Foundation Day in Tel Aviv, Israel on the night of February 17, 2023, to which a heartening video message of Governor Edduba was played.

Edubba in the message reminded them of their culture and identity, mentioning the achievement which the province received for setting two world records for the most number of gong players and pot dancers.

Macar said Kalinga-OFWs are celebrating the occasion yearly to show loyalty and pride to their roots and not forgetting about the yKalinga culture and tradition.

“Proud kami nga we are Kalinga. Maipakita mi met nga uray adayo kmi dita probinsya tayo ket tugut-tugot mi latta ti kaugalian tayo nga napipintas,” he said adding that the event marked their 13th year of celebrating the Kalinga Day in the said country. It was attended by 50 yKalinga members and visitors.

Macar said he hopes that yKalinga OFWs around the globe will not forget their history and culture as these maintain their identity.

“Datayo nga OFW, sapay kuma ta haan tayo nga lipatan ti kaugalian tayo nga taga kalinga nga napipintas, kas kuma ti unity ta dayta ti ugali nga haan nga maikat kanya tayo,” he said.

There are more than 100 yKalinga OFWs working in Israel, according to Macar.
