yKalinga singer asks financial support as she embarks on international singing competition

Tabuk City, Kalinga – As she embarks in a global singing competition through the World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA), yKalinga singer Sesy Lou Bucalen – Salazar solicits not just the moral support of her supporters but also their monetary support.

The female soldier, who once made the yKalingas proud by showcasing her vocal prowess at the "Tawag ng Tanghalan" stage back in 2021, is competing at the WCOPA Solo-vocal senior category, thus the need for sponsorship on her expenses during the competition in July to August 2023 in Anaheim, California.

“It has always been an honor and a privilege to be a part of the most coveted competition which is the World Championship of Performing Arts. Thus, allow me to have a place in your hearts by helping me make a once-upon-a-time dream come to life as I partake in a slot on the world stage,” Salazar said in a Facebook post.

What does it cost to attend WCOPA?

For a team of artists to successfully take part in the WCOPA, monetary funding is needed to cover the expenses of the team while at the competition.

These include travel, training, and hotel expenses, among others. Many teams secure sponsors to help with the cost.

In an interview, Salazar said though they already secured national sponsors, she still needs a sponsorship amounting to $5,000 or around P300,000.

The public could give monetary support through GCASH – 09190063575 or through Salazar’s BDO account – 00555-0203-104.

Prizes in the competition

When asked about the awards artist could reap when winning the competition, Salazar said WCOPA does not provide cash prizes but give over $500,000 in scholarships for continuing entertainment industry education.

A ‘privileged Worldstars Boot Camp’ is also held prior to the competition where top instructors and performers in Hollywood taught them on their tracks like dance, acting, music, and modeling.

What is WCOPA?

WCOPA, according to its website, is often cited as the Official “Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers and entertainers.

Some Filipino singers who made a name through the competition include Jed Madela, Rhap Salazar, Aria Clemente, Joshua Pineda, Marielle Corpuz, among others.

Among the competition categories are acting, dance, instrumental, vocal, vocal self-accompaniment, model, and variety arts.
