yKalinga singer competes in 26th World Championships of the Performing Arts

Tabuk City, Kalinga – A female soldier from Suyang who once made the yKalingas proud after proving her vocal prowess at the stage of "Tawag ng Tanghalan" way back in 2021 will once again embark on a singing competition, now on a global stage.

Sesy Lou Bucalen – Salazar informed on Tuesday, November 29, that she will be a part of the country’s team for the 2023 WCOPA (World Championships of the Performing Arts) that will be held in July 2023 in Anaheim, California, U.S.A after passing the auditions.

“I am so grateful yet blessed to be a part of the 2023 WCOPA TEAM PHILIPPINES which is the only TALENT OLYMPICS in the world!” told the yKalinga singer in a Facebook post.

WCOPA, according to its website, is often cited as the Official “Talent Olympics” for aspiring performers and entertainers.

Some Filipino singers who made a name through the competition include Jed Madela, Rhap Salazar, Aria Clemente, Joshua Pineda, Marielle Corpuz, among others.

As she prepares for the global competition, Salazar solicits the prayers and support of her supporters, saying ‘I will be needing your prayers and support to make this journey possible as I represent Pilipinas kong mahal and the AFP.”

She added that with her, journeying a new milestone in her life, she is proud to represent the 5th Infantry “Star” Division, Philippine Army based in Gamu, Isabela.

Who is Sesy Lou Bucalen Salazar?

The yKalinga singer is based at the 5th Infantry Division in Isabela. In an earlier statement, she said that during her off-duty, she serves as the vocalist of their band.

“Kapag wala akong trabaho, bokalista naman ako ng 5th Infantry Division Combo,” she told on her VTR when she was still competing for Tawag ng Tanghalan.

Through the band, Sesy Lou met the love of her life. They have a four-year-old kid.
