yKalinga singer-songwriter Mauricio Patongao officially launches ‘A Call of a Thousand Gongs’ album

Tabuk City, Kalinga – yKalinga singer-songwriter Mauricio Patongao officially launched his album ‘A Call of a Thousand Gongs’ at the Las Vegas Hotel on March 16, 2022.


Patongao who is an indigenous artist, chanter, and dancer is the one behind the composition of the official anthem of the 19th Kalinga Ullalim Festival entitled ‘Awong Chi Gangsa or A Call of a Thousand Gongs’.

The album, which is a second phase of Chawak for Peace, his 1st album contains a collection of original songs which were inspired by the challenges and realities of the present time.


Also, the album was written as a call for unity and to call for the people to uphold the best and unique traditions and the practices of Cordillera.

Among the tracks included in the album is the ‘Fallen For You’ which is a tribute for the Fallen 44, particularly to the 14 heroes from the region.


In support of the launching of his album, The Living Anitos band and various artists performed Patongao’s original songs such as Madirigmang Tubong Cordillera, Let Love Reign, Judge Mentality, Inang Lupang Cordillera, IWI song, Model we Pamilia, Nagloko je Baboy Ko, Light (1st album) with Princine, and We Fight as One.

The Living Anitos also sang some of their original songs during the event.


The launching of Patongao’s album was graced by the Kalinga Provincial Indigenous People Mandatory Representative Mike Sugguiyao whose office financially supported the recording of the album, the Igorot Warrior International 168, and other primary sponsors and donors.
