yKalinga soldier tops army training course

Financial difficulty is indeed not a hindrance to keep striving harder in life. This was proven by Probationary 2nd Lieutenant Remuel Bosway Agpawan of Sumadel, Tinglayan who is set to graduate as top 6 in his military class.

Remuel is among the 106 graduating "GAIGMAT" Class 58-2023 of the Philippine Army Officer Candidate Course.

The graduating soldier didn’t have a smooth life as their family struggles with finances. With this, he had to work as a farmer, construction laborer, and small-scale miner just to earn enough amount to sustain his college studies at the Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) where he took a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.

While juggling work and academics, he still managed to excel in extra-curricular activities like joining national competitions for 100m and 400m hurdles. Likewise, his leadership skills led him to be elected as the Supreme Student Council Congressman for Accountancy in college.

His ability to multitask and his hard work was also carried into his journey in the 2023 Philippine Army Officer Candidate School as he was appointed the Logistics Officer (S4) of the Officer Candidate Corps Philippine Army.

Being in the top 6 of his military class, his alma mater, MPSPC conveyed pride in his accomplishment.

“…The Mountain Province State Polytechnic College (MPSPC) proudly extends its congratulations to Mr. Agpawan for his remarkable achievement,” the school wrote.
