yKalinga wheelchair racer joins 2024 Paralympic Games

Tabuk City, Kalinga – Kalinga’s very own wheelchair racer, Jerrold Pete Mangliwan, is aiming for the podium once again in one of the biggest sporting events in the world, the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The Philippine Sports Commission officially announced on Friday, June 28, that Mangliwan will join the country’s delegation in the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games set on July 26 – August 11.

Mangliwan earned the ticket to play for the country in said event after hauling gold in Men’s 400M-T52 and silver in Men’s 100M-T52 during the 4th Asian Para Games held in Hangzhou, China.

This will be the yKalinga wheelchair racer’s 3rd time joining the Paralympics.

“Finally, it's official I'm going to Paris!!! It's my 3rd PARALYMPIC. Thank you God sa lakas at biyaya, para sa inang Bayan,” he wrote on Facebook.

Other yKalingas participating in the Paris 2024 include boxer Hergie Bacyadan and para-archer Agustina Bantiloc. Bacyadan was qualified for the Olympics after a quarterfinal unanimous win in the Women's 75kg of the 2nd World Boxing Olympic Qualification Tournament in Thailand. At the same time, Bantiloc earned her spot through the Bipartite Commission Invitation after reaching the minimum qualification standard for the Compound Women's Open Category.
