Bangued, Abra - Desiree Fae Sambrano Palope, a young student-athlete in Abra, showed a remarkable symbol of dedication and making a wise choice, as she demonstrated maturity and responsibility beyond her age by buying a farm cow instead of what most teenagers may opt to buy.

Desiree Fae was among the representatives of the Abra Mighty Weavers in the recently conducted Cordillera Administrative Region Athletic Association (CARAA) Meet 2025 in Benguet, where she bagged two silver medals and one bronze in swimming.

Alongside other Abrenian athletes who competed and secured medals at the event, Desiree Fae received cash rewards from the provincial government of Abra for representing the province and demonstrating dedication in various sports.

As mentioned by a local media outlet, the Abra PLGU gave P20,000 for the gold medalists, P15, 000 for silver medalists, and P10,000 for bronze medalists.

With her three medals, Desiree Fae got a total of P40,000 in prize money. Instead of spending the cash on personal luxuries or items many young people will go get, Desiree Fae made a selfless decision.

Coming from a family of hardworking farmers, she chose to invest her incentives in something that would benefit her family. The young athlete used the cash to buy a cow to help support her family’s farming livelihood.

Her proud parents are Mrs. Glenda Sembrano and Mr. Desiderio Palope.

With such a wise decision, Desiree Fae set an inspiring example not just for her fellow youth but for all that success in sports is not just about the medals and recognition but also about using that success to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.
